What is Quick Search?
Quick search is a functionality that makes it easy to search for a particular outlet in Datlinq Places.
Where can I find the Quick Search?
In the top right of your screen, there is a white bar with grey letters that say "search". This is what is referred to as "the quick search". The search bar is always available in Data Outlet in the same spot
How does the search bar work?
When you type in a word, or several words and press "enter" the search engine will present you with a list of matches to your search command. If you use more than one word the search engine will combine these and only give result that include all words in your command.
Typing in a new search command will reset all previously selected filters, paging and map views. If you insert a valid customer ID it will directly redirect you to the corresponding customer card.
If you enter a customer number of a deleted outlet you have to untick the box "only active outlets" to be directed.
You can use several (combinations of) search criteria:
- Data Outlet customer ID
- Company name
- Location information
Searching terms are separated by space, when adding two terms both are required to become a valid result. Search for `Bar Restaurant Rotterdam` will only contain results that match all three terms.
If you click on “Search” the results in table format, the map and filters will show.
Results in list
Only the first 10 results are shown, all other results, sorted on the filled terms scoring, you can access via the page button.
Searching terms try to match as many fields as possible, some fields have higher importance than others. e.g. Terms matching outlet names will have a higher score than tems matching streetname.
You can also select which information you want to show at the settings menu (this has no impact on the search results or the fields it is matched against). This will be saved for your next search. To limit the number of results you can you use the map or filter options.
Zooming on the map will filter the results based on visibility in the current viewport of the map.
The map will try and display all results from the query as markers on the map. If too many markers are next to each other, they will be regrouped in a cluster marker.
Clicking a marker will activate a filter for that single outlet. Clicking it again will deselect that filter. Clicking on a marker will zoom you to a lower level, giving more detail.
Markers can be used as filter or drilldown, but the heatmap option shows a layer to give you an idea of the density of outlets in a specific region depending on your query.
You can use the filters as drilldown on the queries content. The number behind the filter gives an estimation of the number of results remaining after enabling the filter. The values in the filter are sorted on the highest number of results, by clicking on “more” you can see the complete list of filter values available. You can deselect a filter by clicking on the value of the filter.
There a 5 filters available:
- Active locations – default selected
- Locations in focus universe – default selected
